City Mayor: government will keep supporting scientific innovation

Prof. Jiang Xiaoming, Associate Director of IHEP, introduced IHEP in general and its plans for mid and long term development. Mr. Liu Minghua, Director General of the Bureau for Basic Sciences under CAS introduced CAS plans for a comprehensive research center to be built in the suburbs of Beijing.

Prof. ZHAN Wenlong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) introduced CAS science activities and stressed the importance of basic sciences to other sectors, he extended his appreciation to the city government for its constant support for CAS development.

The city mayor congratulated IHEP on its scientific achievements. He commented that a lot of high-tech must be involved in successfully bringing the beams to collision in such an accurate manner, and hoped that while making excellent progress in basic research, scientists should allocate a small part of their time to transferring these technologies. Concluding his remarks, Mr. Guo expressed his support to the ideaof a comprehensive research center and promised to continue to support and serve scientists for their scientific innovations.
