BESIII on its way to more results
The BESIII Collaboration meeting in spring, chaired by Prof. Yifang Wang, Deputy Director of IHEP and Spokesperson of the BESIII Collaboration, was heldin Beijing from March 3 to 6. At the meeting, new

Currently, the peak luminosity of the Upgraded Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPCII) has got very close to 6X1032/cm2/s with its average luminosity being doubled, which has greatly improved the data acquisition speed. In order to further speed up data processing and physics analysis, IHEP researchers are now focusing upon upgrading the operation system from 32-bit to 64-bit. Once this task is completed, the analyzing speed will be approximately doubled.
Prof. Yifang WANG mentioned that 1,000 new CPU cores would be added, which means a 30% increase to the computing power. Electronics of the BESIII muon identifier will also be upgraded in this summer. During the meeting, accelerator operation, BESIII current status and software improvements on Monte-carlo simulations were also reported. A series of exhilarating physics results are expected to be on the flow.
The next Collaboration meeting will be held at Nanjing University in June.
