An international meeting was convened at IHEP from Feb. 17 to 19 to discuss the LHAASO (Large High Altitude Air Shower

LHAASO, as one of the key projects of IHEP’s Twelfth Five-year plan, is designed to fulfill the physical goals in gamma ray astronomy and cosmic ray physics. Initial research results have been reported in terms of its functional prototype, array construction and its pre-running.

While speaking highly of these achievements, most representatives thought that conditions for greater international collaboration were becoming mature. During the meeting, many constructive suggestions were put forward; ways of international patterns for such collaboration were seriously explored and discussed.

It was agreed that details concerning the formal founding of the LHAASO Collaboration will be dealt with in Europe this October.
