The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) invites applications for postdoctoral positions in AI4HEP (Artificial Intelligence for High Energy Physics) under the Experimental Physics Division and Computing Center.

About AI4HEP

AI4HEP is a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research field integrating advanced AI technologies into high-energy physics experiments. This innovative direction aims to enhance data processing efficiency and precision in HEP experiments. AI4HEP activities at IHEP are based on several international large-scale scientific facilities, including:

l  The Beijing Electron-Positron Collider II / Beijing Spectrometer III (BEPCII/BESIII)

l  The Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

l  The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO)

l  The High Energy Photon Source (HEPS)

l  The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS)

Development Policy

The goal is to develop postdoctoral researchers into specialists in a specific AI4HEP area. After the initial contract period (2 years, with a potential extension based on funding), candidates may have the opportunity to remain at IHEP as faculty or join international collaborative institutions.

Research Directions

Applicants may choose research topics based on their interests, including:

1.  Automating Data Analysis Workflows Using Large Language Models

2.  Physical Knowledge Representation and Embedding

3.  AI-based Simulation, Reconstruction and Analysis tools

4.  AI Applications in HEP

5.  Large Models for Domain-Specific Scientific Research

6.  AI-Ready Scientific Data Systems

Requirements

l  Qualifications: A Ph.D. (or imminent completion) in particle physics, computational physics, artificial intelligence, mathematics, photon Science, neutron Science, data Processing, or a related field.

l  Preferred Skills: Background in machine learning or physics data analysis is highly desirable.
