Post-doctoral Positions in Collider Physics and Neutrino Physics at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing, China
The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing invites applications for three post-doctoral positions in collider physics at BESIII and/or CEPC, neutrino physics at JUNO, LBNF and/or EMuS.
IHEP is a national lab and the premier high energy physics center in China. IHEP hosts a number of high energy physics facilities such as the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider, Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII); the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment; the China Spallation Neutron Source and space missions.
There are also facilities under construction, such as the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO); the Large High-Altitude Air Shower Observatory; High Energy Photon Source-Test Facility.
IHEP leads the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) and Super Proton Proton Collider (SPPC) projects; themuon-decay medium-baseline neutrino beam facility (MOMENT) and the Experimental Muon Source (EMuS) projects, for which R&D of critical technologies is ongoing. IHEP has close cooperation with worldwide leading institutions and projects such as Large Hadron Collider, Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF). More details about IHEP is at here.
Successful applicants can choose to work on the following areas, play an important role in one or more aspects in the areas of
- BESIII physics analyses/R&D of CEPC detector, and research and development of data processing software. Experience of Reconstruction ,Simulation or Machine Learning is especially preferred.
- R&D and construction of JUNO/LBNF, and research and development of high intensity proton beam target station for MOMENT/EMuS. Experience of accelerator based neutrino experiment is preferred.
Candidates are required to have a PhD degree in high energy physics by the time of the appointment. Knowledge of Chinese language is useful but not required.
Initial appointment will be for two years, with possible renewal. The annual salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and competitive internationally. Outstanding candidates will be recommended to apply for the “Chung-Yao Chao Fellowship” in 2018 which provides additional 80k RMB (12.8 k USD) per year for each successful candidate.
The position is open to qualified candidates of all nationalities. Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of professional interests, and arrange to have three reference letters sent to Prof. YUAN Ye (yuany@ihep.ac.cn). The position will remain open until filled.
