Post-doctoral Fellows at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing, China
The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing invites applications for several postdoctoral fellow positions in experimental particle physics with the BESIII experiment at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The BESIII experiment has collected over 1 billion J/ψ events, 0.5 billion ψ(2S) events, and large datasets at the ψ(3770) and at ~4 GeV, and plans to take additional data at energies above the ψ(3770) resonance. IHEP also leads the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) project (cepc.ihep.ac.cn) in which critical R&D for detectors are ongoing.
The successful applicants will be based in Beijing, China. A Ph.D. in experimental high energy particle physics is required. Knowledge of Chinese language is useful but not required. The postdoc fellows will be expected to play important roles in the physics analysis with the BESIII data, and to participate in the development of the Silicon Vertex detector for an experiment at the CEPC. The appointment will last a period of two years with a possible extension of another two years. The applications will be reviewed as soon as they are received and the positions will remain open until they are filled. Outstanding candidates will be recommended to apply for the “Chung-Yao Chao Fellowship” which provides an additional stipend of 80k RMB (12.8 k USD) per year for each successful candidate.
IHEP is a national lab and the premier high energy physics center in China. The BEPC collider is located on the IHEP campus. IHEP is the Worldwide LHC Computing Tier‐2 Grid site; its computing center provides excellent computing resources and support to researchers.
IHEP is located in western Beijing with an easy access to the city subway and bus‐ lines to all areas of Beijing. Beijing is served by a modern airport and by high speed trains to major Chinese cities and significant destinations. The city of Beijing offers rich historic sites, a great variety of cultural, culinary and entertainment opportunities, as well as the benefits of a modern city.
Interested candidates should send their curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, a list of publications. Besides that, three letters of recommendation should to be sent directly to Professor Xin Shi (shixin@ihep.ac.cn) and Ms. Tianhong Xing (xingth@ihep.ac.cn) with a subject title Postdoc Search.
