Faculty positions at the levels of associated and full professorship at IHEP

The High Energy Physics Institute (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China invites applications for several faculty positions at the levels of associated and full professorship, beginning in 2012. The successful candidates are expected to play leading roles in one or more of the following research areas:

(1) operation, detector upgrade and data analysis with the Beijing Spectrometer Experiment (BESIII) at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC),

(2) operation, detector upgrade and data analysis with the Atlas experiment at the Large Hadron Collider,

(3) pixel and silicon strip detector research and development,

(4) neutrino physics with the Daye Bay reactor neutrino experiment.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and at least two years of postdoctoral research experience in a major high energy experiment. Applicants who have research experience with the pixel or the silicon strip detector or ASIC design and applications are especially encouraged to apply. These faculty positions are open to outstanding physicists of all nationalities. Knowledge of Chinese language is useful but not required.

The new faculty members are expected to carry out world class research in one of the listed areas, and to advise Masters and Ph.D. students in dissertation research. The salary is commensurate with experience and startup funding is available. The appointment is initially for 5 years and will be renewable upon satisfactory performance.

IHEP is a national lab and the premier high energy physics center in China. The BEPC collider is located on the IHEP campus. IHEP is the Worldwide LHC Computing Tier-2 Grid site; its computer center provides excellent computing resources and support to researchers.
