The Fall 2018 Physics and Software Workshop of the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII) International Collaboration Group was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) from Sept. 10-13. More than 100 scholars and graduate students participated, representing BESIII members from China, Europe, Russia, the U.S. and other countries.
The workshop featured reports on the energy upgrade and the Top-up mode upgrade at BEPCII as well as future plans; the upgrade of hardware and software for the CGEM internal detector; BESIII computing and software environments; and data quality studies. In addition, physicists from different physics groups presented reports on various analyses based on the existing data samples.
The collaboration agreed to continue collecting J/psi and XYZ data in 2018-19 running year to strengthen the study of light hadron spectroscopy and the charmoniumlike states. They also held in-depth discussion on the writing of the BESIII physics white paper as well as new initiatives to improve the quality of physics papers and publish them more quickly.
This year’s Winter BESIII International Collaboration Group Meeting will be held at Wuhan University from Nov. 26-30.
