IHEP singed cooperative agreements on talent cultivation on July 9th, 2015 separately with the Institute of Physics and Electronics under the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) and the Institute of Physics Sciences and Technology under the Sichuan University. 

In accordance with the cooperative agreements, the parties will jointly run ”Qian Sanqiang Talent Class” in the universities, which will aim to cultivate young talents for the research of high energy physics.   

At the signing ceremony,  Associate Director of IHEP Qin Qing gave his remarks, in which he commented that it was an important measure taken by IHEP to strengthen its cooperation with the universities. High energy physics studies rely upon mega-science facilities, but maintaining these facilities needs talents with engineering background. Through these agreements, more talents will be cultivated for the research of high energy physics. Representatives from the two universities also delivered their remarks. 

After the signing ceremony, philosophy and methods of running the class were discussed. It was agreed that in line with the characteristics of the class, special curriculum would be added and high caliber teachers would be arranged. Teachers would be encouraged to strengthen their contacts and exchanges with IHEP scientists. 

Chair of the IHEP Scientific Degree Committee Chang Zhe, Vice Dean of the Institute of Physics and Electronics (UESTC) Yang Hongchun and Dean of the Institute of Physics Sciences and Technology, Sichuan University Gong Min attended the above activities.
