The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) offers neutron scattering to all qualified users. The experimental period of CSNS in the second half of 2023 is from October 2023 to February 2024, and we welcome all users at home and abroad to submit applications online. All proposals will be critically reviewed for scientific merit by experts.
The deadline for this proposal round is July 31th, 2023 (At 0’clock on July 31th the CSNS User Service System will close the application channel).
All the applicants shall creat an account to submit the proposal through the CSNS User Service System (https://user.csns.ihep.ac.cn/). The application background (purpose, significance, current status at home and abroad), experimental plan, expectations, experimental methods and estimated beamtime should be clarified in the proposal. All proposals will be reviewed by the experts. Once your application has been scheduled, you will receive an email from the CSNS User Office. Please complete all of the access notification/registration online at https://user.csns.ihep.ac.cn/, to ensure that the experiment can be done as scheduled. You will need to submit an experimental report and a user satisfaction survey within three months after the experiment.
In the current call for proposals, the following instruments are available to users.
1 General Purpose Powder Diffractometer (GPPD)
Instrument scientist:Lunhua He <lhhe@ihep.ac.cn>
Please be aware that GPPD has completed the upgrade of stress test, and this round of proposal is mainly for stress study.
2 Multipurpose reflectometer (MR)
Instrument scientist: Tao Zhu <tzhu@ihep.ac.cn>
3 Small Angle Neutron Scatterometer (SANS)
Instrument scientist: Yubin Ke <keyb@ihep.ac.cn>
4 Multi-Physics Instrument (MPI)
Instrument scientist: Wen Yin <yinwen@ihep.ac.cn>
Please be noted that the MPI is jointly built by China Spallation Neutron Source and Dongguan University Of Technology (DUT). So "CSNS channel" and "DUT channel" can be selected by public users and DUT related user, respectively.
The above neutron instruments are still in operation and we are still debugging and testing their performance. We need to have enough time to complete the instrument debugging and solve the problem. If you apply for this proposal round, you have agreed to help us complete the commissioning by using the instrument and providing feedback to ensure that these instruments can provide reliable beamtime in the future. If you have any questions before applying, please contact the instrument scientist.
