CSNS held the 2024 International Advisory Committee meeting 4th-6th November. 20 international senior experts in accelerator, neutron, and muon science and technology serving as advisory committee members attended the meeting.
This meeting marked the first international advisory committee meeting held after the initiation of the CSNS-II project, following 10 successful previous meetings. The International Advisory Committee comprises top experts from relevant fields who have played a significant role in the successful construction of the CSNS-I project. For the CSNS-II construction, the meeting will be held annually to better leverage the evaluation and advisory functions of the committee.
During the meeting, CSNS researchers presented the overall progress of the facility, accelerator and target station spectrometers, infrastructure and general facilities progress, as well as detailed progress of each system. They also provided a detailed report on the CSNS-II upgrade plan. The CSNS-II project faces various challenges, including the power upgrade of the accelerator and target station, enhancing the international competitiveness of the CSNS-II instruments, and minimizing the impact of the construction on the open operation of the facility.
