The international review meeting for the physics design of MELODY held at CSNS

Date: 2024-12-17 Author:

On 1st July 2024, the international review meeting for the physics design of the Muon Station for Science, Technology and Industry (MELODY) was held at the CSNS campus. 8 muon source professionals from the ISIS, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC), and the RIKEN Institute joined this meeting remotely. Dr. Adrian Hillier, the PI of the muon source at ISIS, chaired the review panel.

Dr. Bao Yu, the PI of the Melody project, presented the project overview. Three other reports on the overall design of the muon target station, the physics design of the muon beam transport line, and the physics design of the muon spin spectrometerm were reviewed.

After an internal discussion, Dr. Adrian Hillier outlined the review comments on behalf of the panel. The review panel gave full affirmation for the physics design work of the Melody project, suggesting to consider future development while ensuring the basic construction of the project and preserving the potential to comprehensively advance muon science development.
