On 30 October, the 24th International Collaboration on Advanced Neutron Sources (ICANS XXIV) opened at the Dongguan International Exhibition Hotel. The conference lasted for 5 days and was attended by over 200 scientists and engineers from the UK, Japan, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden etc. The conference was hosted by the China Spallation Neutron Source, with Dr. Wang Sheng, Deputy Director of the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Spallation Neutron Source Science Center, serving as the chairman of the conference. This is the second time that the conference has been held in Dongguan since 2007. Secretary of CPC Dongguan Mr. Xiao Yafei also attended and delivered an opening speech.
The ICANS conference was first held in 1977 and is held every two years. To date, 23 conferences have been held, aiming to provide a platform for international advanced neutron source facilities and related technology development.
ICANS XXIV has set up five sections, including accelerators, target, moderators and instruments, operations and safety, software and data, with over 100 reports. It also includes light source facilities for the first time. In five days experts and scholars have fully exchanged ideas in neutron source-related technologies, facility openness and sharing, and talent training.
The conference has received strong support from the Dongguan Government.
