The 7th Accelerator Reliability Workshop (ARW 2019), hosted by the Dongguan Campus of the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), was successfully held at the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou from November 11th to 15th. More than 110 accelerator experts attended the workshop.

The workshop has a total of 11 scientific sessions, with 25 oral presentations and 45 poster presentations, covering aspects of Reliability Methodologies, Performance Tracking, Maintenance, Reliability Before Design, Fault Investigation Optimizing Availability, Machine Learning Tutorial, How to Recover from Downtime, Software, Accelerator System, Innovations in Accelerator Automation and Robotics and Big Data and Machine Learning. Experiences has been shared, and both achievements and challenges has been learned from each other. Participants also spent an afternoon touring the China Spallation Neutron Source, a brand new facility, operated by the Dongguan Campus of IHEP, which is just open to users in 2018.

As one of the important international workshops in the field of accelerator operation and maintenance, ARW has attracted experts from  world-renowned national laboratories, universities, and research institutions. It has been held every two years since 2002. The meeting centered on discussing the reliable operation of the accelerator and sharing the operating experience, and discussed the key technical issues, design and construction, and engineering management of the accelerator.

ARW 2019 is held for the first time in China. It is strongly supported by local official organizations such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Sun Yat-sen University, and is sponsored by Beijing He-Racing Technology Co., Ltd. and Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Co., Ltd.
