The CSNS International Advisory Committee held its tenth review meeting on IHEP Dongguan Campus from November 12 to 14, 2018.
9 senior scientists from the world-famous research institutions like Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), European Spallation Source (ESS) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), attended the meeting and had serious review on the progress and the future plan of CSNS.
CSNS Project Director Chen Hesheng gave an overall report on CSNS covering operation status and user cultivation. He also briefly introduced the achievements that CSNS has made in 2018, as well as the future upgrade plan. On behalf of CSNS, he also expressed his gratitude for the committee's supports in the last ten years.
Representing the sub-systems, Wang Sheng, Liang Tianjiao and Wu Qingbiao, also gave reports respectively. The review experts listened to 22 detailed reports and had thorough discussions and exchanges with the CSNS staff. They concluded that since the last review meeting, the project has made remarkable progress. Valuable suggestions and opinions were put forward on such key issues as facility operation, user development and radiation safety, especially in development of the next suite of neutron instruments and beam power upgrade. They also toured the linac and ring tunnel, the target station and instrument hall.
