December 16, 2015. The Third CSNS Science Committee Meeting, chaired by CAS Academician Fang Shouxian, was convened in Dongguan on December 16, 2015.Thirty five members including 11 academicians attended the meeting.

Chen Yuanbo, Director of the IHEP Dongguan Branch, delivered remarks welcoming and thanking the attendees for their consistent support for the CSNS Project. He briefly reported about the project progress since the last committee meeting. According to him, the next two years will be critical for CSNS, further efforts must be made to ensure beams out in the fall of 2017.

CSNS Project Director Chen Hesheng reported on the general progress of the CSNS Project, covering the construction, plans for spectrometer and user cultivation. He also discussed the problems facing the project and ways of solving them.

At the session meetings, Fu Shinian reported on the progress of accelerator, Wang Fangwei reported on the progress of detector and target, Tang Jingyu reported on the progress of white neutron source. After the sessions, discussions and exchanged were held. The attendees spoke highly of the achievements made over the past two years and put forward many valuable suggestions. At the end of the meeting, the attendees had a site tour.
