Chen Yuanbo Deputy Manager CSNS chenyb@ihep.ac.cn Prof. Chen Yuanbo is the CSNS project Deputy Manager and former deputy director of IHEP. He graduated from the Department of Modern Physics, the University of Science and Technology of China in 1978. He has been working at IHEP since then. From 1986 to 2000, he worked as a visiting scholar in several laboratories and countries, like INFN in Italy, ALEPH in Switzerland and the University of Hawaii in the USA. His areas of research include experimental particle physics, detector physics, nuclear technology and application. He has long been engaged in the research of gas detector and new detector development. From 1986 to 1988, he participated in the BES online data acquisition system. From 1986 to 1990, he took part in the study of plastic streamer tube and ALEPH experiment at CERN. He was responsible for handron/ muon detector R&D of the Tau-Charm Factory from 1992 to 1995, and involved in the construction of MDCII and MDCIII drift chamber from 1992 to 2002. Since 2002, he has been responsible for the design and construction of BESIII drift chamber and new detector development. From 2013 to 2017, he was the director of CSNS. He is now in charge of the construction of the target station and spectrometers of the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS).
