A Collaborative Meeting on HEPS-TF and APS Held at IHEP

A collaborative meeting discussing the exchanges and collaboration between IHEP/HEPS-TF and ANL/APS was held at IHEP on September 28-29, 2015. About 40 scientists including 7 from APS attended the meeting. 

At the meeting, IHEP Director Wang Yifang gave welcome remarks in which he spoke highly of the long-term cooperative ties between IHEP and ANL. Synchrotron radiation has been an important field for collaboration between the two laboratories, this continued collaboration will be essential to the construction of advanced synchrotron light sources. 

Director of APS Stephen Streiffer and Stuart Henderson in charge of APS upgrade gave talks respectively on APS and its upgrading program. Deputy Director of HEPS-TF Dong Yuhui introduced on the status and progress of HEPS-TF. After the talks, deep discussions were held on the key technical issues of the above programs. 

HEPS-TF summarized its collaboration with APS over the past year and plans for next year’s collaboration were also proposed. APS delegates fully agreed that the collaboration over the past year  made excellent progress, especially on the APD detector program. Both sides expressed agreement to further strengthen personnel exchanges and collaboration in the fields of synchrotron radiation researches and applications. 

After the meeting, the APS guests toured BEPCII, BSRF and the IHEP workshop.
