   Mid-term Review on Pioneer Initiative Project - Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment TEXT SIZE: A A A

The Bureau of Development and Planning of CAS held at IHEP the mid-term review on the Pioneer Initiative Project – Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment. Vice President of CAS Yin Hejun and leaders from the Bureau of Development and Planning, Bureau of Facility Support and Budget, Bureau of Science Communication, Bureau of Major Research and Development Programs attended the review. 

Director General of the Bureau of Development and Planning Pan Jiaofeng chaired the preparatory meeting. Yin Hejun made remarks on the mid-term review. He introduced on the CAS Pioneer Initiative and the background information of Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment. He pointed out that the review intended to timely find out problems and sum up experience, he hoped that the experts would put forward their opinions and valuable suggestions. Associate Director General of the Bureau of Development and Planning Zhang Feng introduced the working arrangements of the review. 

The Head of the Expert Review Group, Academician Shen Wenqing presided over the expert review. The group, consisting of 12 experts from IHEP, ITP and the Institute of Physics of CAS, the Institute of Atomic Energy, Beijing University, the University of CAS, the University of Science and Technology of China, listened to the mid-term report by the chief scientist of the project and the reports by the three main sub-systems, central detector, photomultiplier and liquid scintillator. 

After the reports and discussions, the experts toured the laboratories and the facilities for the project. The expert group fully confirmed the progress made by the Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment, and put forward many important opinions and suggestions on the management, resource allocation and talent, which would certainly promote the progress of the project and help produce significant scientific results in the future.
