To cultivate and attract talents, the CAS Center for Excellence in Particle Physics and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Particles and Interactions jointly established Chung-Yao Chao Fellowship. Those selected are called Chung-Yao Chao Fellows.

On May 22- 23, 2015, the first batch of Chung-Yao Chao Fellows was reviewed and selected at IHEP. After careful appraisal, the review committee finally selected 29 young talents as Chung-Yao Chao Fellows.
