Bai Cunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), inspected the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) on June 29th, 2015.

Chen Yunxian, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Xu Jianhua, Secretary of the Dongguan Chinese Communist Party Committee joined in the inspection. Wang Yifang, Director of IHEP, Chen Yuanbo, Associate Director of IHEP and Chen Hesheng, Director of the CSNS Project hosted the President and the guests.

Bai Chunli and the guests came to the sand model first and asked about the status and progress of the CSNS. A discussion meeting was organized with the project leaders and the local government leaders, Academician Chen Hesheng gave a report on the project progress.

At the discussion meeting, Bai Chunli gave his remarks, in which he commented that since the ground-breaking in 2011, great changes have taken place, the project is smooth and on schedule, all those should be attributed to the efforts of the constructors. In his remarks, he also expressed his greetings to the scientists and engineers and his thanks to the strong support of the local government. He pointed out that CSNS is a key mega-science project of the country, CAS pays high attention to the project construction and progress. He hoped that the project would be completed according to schedule and wouid provide an important platform for multi-disciplinary research, taking a place in international science and technology frontiers. At the same time, he requested that user cultivation should be emphasized, ensuring the project would provide good service to the users.

The President and the guests toured the construction site and inspected the on-site civil engineering construction and the equipment installation and commissioning.
