The 18th ICANS meeting held in Dongguan, Guangdong, China TEXT SIZE: A A A
——

The ICANS-XVIII meeting took place on April 26-29, 2007 at Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China. About 240 scientists who came from world famous institutes attended this meeting. The Meeting of the International Collaboration on Advanced Neutron Sources (ICANS), originated from a series of discussions that took place in 1977 among Argonne National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Rutherford Allenton Laboratory, Tohoku University and KEK, comprises an informal network of twelve member-Laboratories worldwide, which be held in every two years. Over the past 30 years, the ICANS meetings have provided a forum for scientists and engineers all over the world to study and exchange information on the development of accelerator-based neutron science. This is the first time in its history for ICANS to be hosted in China.

China has decided to build its own neutron source facility - the Chinese Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). Dongguan city has been chosen as the site to set up  this facility, which is reason why Dongguan city  was chosen  as the location for ICANS-XVIII. It is the tradition of ICANS to cooperate and support each other, by hosting this meeting we hope to advance neutron science and to further strengthen cooperation between and among the member laboratories.
