The 2013 IHEP-KEK Annual Cooperative Meeting took place at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) on February 4, 2013.
Dr. WANG Yifang, Director of IHEP, heading the Chinese delegation, opened the meeting by warmly welcoming the Japanese guests. He then introduced the IHEP activities covering the recent progress on accelerators, physics experiments, multi-disciplinary research and international collaboration on PANDA, Belle-II, LHC and ILC, etc. .
Dr. Atsuto SUZUKI, Director-General of High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) expressed his happiness to visit IHEP once again and congratulated on IHEP’s 40th birthday. Dr. Yasuhiro Okada, Trustee of KEK in charge of its research promotion and international cooperation shared an overview of KEK activities and its future plans.
After reports, both sides discussed at great length how to further strengthen the cooperation, China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project, detector R&D, ERL Project, Belle & Belle-II Experiment and International Linear Collider (ILC) Project being listed as the key areas for cooperation. Dr. Wang expressed the wish to invite Japanese participation in both LHAASO and DYB-II projects and hoped that KEK could play a bridging role.
It is agreed that the next cooperative meeting will be held at KEK in spring or early summer of 2014.
