The Computing Center of the Institute of High Energy Physics (CCIHEP), Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China invites applications for two postdoctoral fellow positions, expected to begin in the fall of 2020. The initial appointment of the position is for two years. The annual salary for this position will start from 240,000.00 CNY before tax and negotiable for candidates with strong research background.
CCIHEP is mainly engaged in computing, storage and network technology research and offering technical support services to large-scale scientific projects. Research activities include grid computing, cloud computing, high performance computing, data storage and management, high performance networks and security, physics software framework, and database applications. The Computing Center has independently built a large-scale computing cluster with 25,000 CPU cores. Currently there is about 30 PB of disk storage space and 50 PB tape library capacity. CCIHEP has also built a WLCG tier2 site for CMS, ATLAS, LHCb. It provides stable and reliable computing and network services to IHEP’s physics experiments.
Position 1: Grid computing and distributed computing
Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in particle physics, hadron physics, and cosmology, astrophysics with grid and distributed computing experience are encouraged to apply the position. This work is involved in the international collaboration and good communication skills are required.
Position 2: Physics software framework development
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree in physics, engineering or related discipline, with excellent programming skills in Python and C++. You should be motivated to work in interdisciplinary teams and good communication skills. The work is carried out in collaboration with High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), focusing on the development of a scientific data processing and analysis framework for physical and astronomical application.
