Mr. Lorenzo Fioramonti, Minister of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), visited the Institute of High Energy Physics on Nov. 26.
Prof. Wang Yifang, director of the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), and other scientists hosted the MIUR delegation. In addition, Prof Antonio Zoccoli, president of Italy’s Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), also attended along with a delegation of INFN scientists.
Wang extended a warm welcome to the Italian guests on behalf of IHEP. He discussed IHEP's current situation and development plans as well as joint research programs between IHEP and Italian institutions.
Fioramonti praised Sino-Italian collaboration in the field of high energy physics. He said he aims to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two nations.
Zoccoli discussed key cooperative projects planned by the two countries. INFN representatives also described achievements and challenges associated with the IHEP-INFN Joint Fellowship Program.
Representatives of the two countries agreed that Sino-Italian collaboration in high energy physics has been long and fruitful. The two sides pledged to cooperate deeply in astrophysics, technology R&D and work involving the Circular Electron Positron Collider, among other areas.
