The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) held the Collaborative Design Meeting on the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) Accelerator in Hangzhou, China from Oct. 15-17, 2018.
The meeting was held in the Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited (PowerChina Huadong), a member of the CEPC Industrial Promotion Consortium (CIPC). More than 30 experts from IHEP, PowerChina Huadong, Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province and other institutions attended the seminar. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Gao Jie, the deputy chairman of the CEPC Institutional Board, the head of the CEPC accelerator, and Mr. Zhang Chunsheng, the president of the PowerChina Huadong.
At the meeting, Prof. Gao Jie first introduced the completion of CEPC Concept Design Report (CDR). Gao emphasized that collaborative efforts between CEPC team and the enterprises should be established and strengthened in the CEPC accelerator design and R&D process towards Technical Design Report (TDR). Gao added that it is necessary and important to collaborate also with international collaboration teams.
The experts from PowerChina Huandong introduced their experiences and achievements in the designs and constructions of digital large-scale engineering projects and modern urban planning and designs. They also reported the advanced management mode of large-scale engineering projects, the practice, mode and experience of collaborative designs among different engineering projects and teams.
Following that, two sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the collaborative design of the CEPC accelerator, the modern project management mode for CEPC project and its construction.
Till now, scientists and engineers from CEPC accelerator systems have carried out in-depth collaborative design and R&D on key technologies with enterprises. They developed CEPC 650 MHz high efficiency klystron design work and fabrication with Kunshan GuoLi Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.; CEPC MDI assembly mechanical system design with Shenyang Huiyu Vacuum Technics Co.,Ltd.; CEPC MDI precision support, movable collimator, booster and collider ring magnets’ mechanical designs with The fifth Institute China Academy of Space Technology; CEPC electrostatic-magnetic deflector with CITIC Heavy Industries Company Ltd.; CEPC sitting, civil engineering, CEPC Science City planning with Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. and PowerChina Huadong; CEPC Cryogenics ( Fullcryo); and SppC high field iron based superconducting magnet R&D with Wuxi Toly Electric Works Co., Ltd., etc.
The CEPC-SppC collaborative research works and progresses will be reported at the CIPC parallel session of the 2018 CEPC-SppC International Collaboration Workshop to be held from November 12-14, at IHEP (see below website) by industrial enterprises.
The meeting in Hangzhou was featured the discussions on CEPC team to carry out collaborative design with enterprises and international scientists from different countries in the world more effectively. This meeting will therefore promote the communication among CEPC design team, enterprises and international collaborators, leading to the on-time completion of CEPC Technical Design Report (TDR) in 2022.
