The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) has recently become an official member of the Large Hadron Collider Open Network Environment (LHCONE), together with the China Science and Technology Network (CSTNET) and the China Education and Research Network (CERNET).
The Large Hadron Collider Open Network Environment (LHCONE) is a dedicated network architecture which connects participating high energy physics sites. This allows the sites to pool their computing resources, so that high energy physics data can be distributed, stored, processed and analysed more efficiently.
The LHCONE virtual network environment not only provides services for LHC's research data, but also provides data exchange services for other experiments with global data sharing needs, such as Japan's Belle II. At the same time, LHCONE is seeking more global cooperation in network performance detection, future network technology and architecture. At present, LHCONE members include more than 80 scientific research institutions and 19 scientific and educational networks worldwide, including the GÉANT network in Europe, and ESNet and Internet2 in the US.
In the future, IHEP will continue to work with CSTNET and CERNET, and continue to promote LHCONE to support global data sharing of China-led large-scale international experiments, such as the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) and Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). This global collaboration will provide a better network environment for China's research data sharing, and will also enhance the level of innovation and application of Internet technology in China.
