A seven-person delegation from Thailand’s Democrat Party, headed by Mr. Satit Pitutacha, former Member of the House of Representatives, Rayong, and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, visited IHEP on December 2, 2017. Prof. Wang Yifang, Director of IHEP, along with Prof. Chen Gang, Deputy Director of IHEP, and other IHEP staff, hosted the delegation.
Prof. Wang welcomed the Thai delegation, and gave an introduction to IHEP’s research programme and to collaboration between IHEP and Thailand. Mr. Pitutacha thanked IHEP for the warm welcome and expressed his admiration of IHEP’s achievements in scientific research and technology transfer. He also expressed his hope that there will be further cooperation on science and technology between China and Thailand in future.
After the meeting, the Thai guests visited the Photomultiplier Tube (PMT) Lab.
IHEP has a strong foundation for cooperation with institutions and universities in Thailand. In April 2017, IHEP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chulalongkorn University, Suranaree University of Technology, and the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand, to establish scientific collaboration, exchange and mutual benefit. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the ceremony and has visited IHEP twice.
