Abstract: The Standard Model of Particle Physics alone is not sufficient to explain certain phenomena observed in our Universe that have profound consequences to life as we know it, such as the matter-antimatter asymmetry and the existence of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. An understanding of these phenomena requires physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM), with experimental signatures that are most likely small and masked by strong interaction physics within the Standard Model (i.e. Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD)). Therefore future precision terrestrial measurements of any BSM observable will require an equally precise understanding of its strong interaction QCD component. To calculate the QCD component of key BSM matrix elements related to quark and strong theta-CP violations we propose to use the gradient flow within the lattice QCD framework.The speaker will outline the strategy for such computations and present some results.
