Pan Weimin is the current Executive Deputy Director of IHEP, and directly manages the Office of Retiree Services, the Library and Information Services Division, and the Machine Shop.
He obtained his Master’s Degree at the China Institute of Atomic Energy in 1986.
His main area of research is accelerator technology and applications.He played a leading role in the Beijing Free Electron Laser (BFEL) project and the Beijing Electron Positron Collider Upgrade (BEPCII), in charge of RF power source and developing superconducting cavity high-power couplers as well as HOM dampers. As one of the Project Managers of the Accelerator-Driven Sub-critical System (ADS) Project, he is in charge of the ADS Proton Linear Accelerator, which has made important achievements such as the development of a very low beta superconducting cavity technology, a significant breakthrough in ADS super-conducting linear proton accelerator.
He has tutored more than ten post-graduate master and doctoral students, published more than 40 academic papers, and has twice been awarded the Beijing Science and Technology Award.
