LU Fangjun Deputy Director
He obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees at Beijing Normal University in 1989 and 1992 respectively. He got his Ph.D. degree at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1996, and has been working at the institute as a staff scientist since then. We worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics as a visiting scholar in May 1998 to Nov. 1999, and at the University of Massachusetts as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in May 2001 to August 2002.
Lu Fangjun's research field is high energy astrophysics, including supernova remnants, pulsars and pulsar wind nebulae, image reconstruction and restoration, as well as the development of space borne high energy astrophysical instruments. He is the author of more than 50 scientific papers. He led the development and production of the scientific payloads onboard the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT), the first X-ray astronomical satellite in China. Currently, he is the project manager of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry (eXTP) mission, project manager of the Ali Cosmic Microwave Background Polarization Telescope (AliCPT), and director of the Follow-Up X-ray Telescope (FXT) onboard the Einstein Probe (EP) satellite.
